Prescription ZOVIRAX Ointment is only indicated for the management of the initial genital herpes outbreak. So when you have lesions, you should abstain from sex. ZOVIRAX Ointment only helps you manage the duration of your symptoms of your first outbreak but doesn't protect against transmission. Even when you don't have symptoms, you should always wear a condom, including when having oral sex. This is a great way to ensure that you don't infect anyone else.
