Important Safety Information About ZOVIRAX Cream
ZOVIRAX® (acyclovir) Cream 5% is indicated for the treatment of recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores) in adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older).

The most common adverse reactions at the site of topical application were dry lips, shedding of skin surface, dryness of skin, cracked lips, burning skin, itching, flakiness of skin, and stinging of skin; each event occurred in less than 1% of patients receiving ZOVIRAX Cream and vehicle.

Some cases of swelling (angioedema), irritation, and inflammation at the application site have been reported. ZOVIRAX Cream does not prevent transmission of HSV infections, and its effect has not been established in immunocompromised patients.
