There are a number of things that may set off your genital herpes. Some are big. Some are small. Some may lead to an outbreak, while others may not seem to affect you at all. But everyone is different. And all that means is that you should pay attention to your body when it's telling you something.
Here Are A Few Of The Common Triggers That Are Known To Cause A Genital Herpes Outbreak:
- Stress
- Medications that strain your immune system (like steroids, chemotherapy, or infections due to HIV/AIDS)
- Menstruation (sorry ladies, hormonal changes can trigger an outbreak)
- Surgery
- Friction to the genital area, possibly caused by sex
- Fatigue
If you notice that lesions appear after any of these triggers (or others that aren't listed here), be sure to tell your doctor about it right away. You and your doctor can talk about your treatment options and decide on a plan that works for you.
